Maisha Azadi

With over 15 years experience in front of and behind-the-scenes, Ms.Azadi is a seasoned professional in the performing arts and entertainment industry. Her experience spans from the field of arts administration in the area of general management, publicity and creative development to technical production for film festivals, concerts, special events and touring Broadway theater productions. As an actor/writer and teaching artist, Ms.Azadi has been contracted by companies and organizations including,HBO, NAACP, Ogilvy, New York Film Academy, ENACT, Healing Arts Initiative,Inc and Sing for Hope. Maisha’s written work has earned her recognition and award by the African American Writers Association of Western New York, and her script, In Due Time was selected as part of the Inaugural Television Writers Workshop hosted by NAMIC, (National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications.)

Ms.Azadi was awarded the Honoree of the Year Award from the S.D.A.C.C., (Student Digital Art and Cinema Committee) for her work on the web-series, Life Unscripted, of which she is writer and executive producer.

Her experience in youth development and leadership includes curriculum development/ program development of diversity education and leadership trainings at both the collegiate and high school levels. She has worked with Morgan State University, Indiana University, the NYC Department of Education's Advisory Council on Career and Technical Education and most recently as the Director of the Mayor's Youth leadership Council through Coro New York Leadership Center.

Having facilitating countless student and teacher workshops for a number of New York City's oldest and more well-known arts and education organizations, Ms. Azadi launched Urban Actors Academy in 2007 combining her passion for the performing arts industry and love and commitment to working in youth development.

She is an alumnus of Morgan State University and Metropolitan College of New York holding a B.A in Communications; concentration in Television Production/Theatre and an M.B.A. with a specialization in Media Management. She is also a member of both SAGAftra and the Actor's Equity Association (AEA).
